I've been working on this post for your for a while now- ever since the lovely folk at Gingerbread Folk said they'd send me a gluten free Gingerbread House Kit! I decided to go in search of some 'better' options for decorating the house- sweets that are still definitely 'sometimes food' or 'treat food', but that your body isn't going to totally hate you for! I've scoured supermarkets, organic food stores, and online stores and found a range of sweet treats that are either refined sugar free, or have no artificial colours or flavours. Options for both sugar-free and artificial-stuff-free are limited, but they do exist...keep reading.
But first: the Gingerbread House! I had originally planned this year to make a house from my own Gingerbread recipe, but then was offered this one from Gingerbread Folk, and how can you say no to a Freebie??! (Pictured below is the box the kit comes in, along with some of their gluten free gingerbread men)...
Option 1: Make your own Jelly Lollies!
Option 2: Make your own Chocolate Shapes.
This chocolate, and others in the Bonvita range, are available from Happy Tummies- a wonderful online store full of allergy-friendly food, as well as cooking accessories to help get kids into the joy of cooking and eating healthy food. They deliver Australia wide. Happy Tummies also sells Sweet William White Compound white choc chips and white choc buttons as another dairy free white chocolate alternative. These are made with sugar, soy flour, palm oil (from a sustainable source), sunflower lecithin and vanilla.
Option 4: Surf Sweets
Option 6: YumEarth Organics Lollies
Option 7: Tasty Brand Fruit Gummies
Option 8: 'Wow Confectionery' Sugar Free Fruit Candy
And that's it! I'd love your feedback about my Lolly Review...have you found it helpful?
All that's left to do now is make your own Gingerbread House and enjoy it!!
